Founded in 2000 by Bruno Lowagie and commercially incorporated as iText Group NV in 2008, the company offers its core library under a dual-license model: AGPL for open-source use and a commercial subscription for proprietary applications. iText was acquired by Apryse (formerly PDFTron Systems) in April 2022 and serves customers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to government agencies across finance, compliance, and IT sectors.
